DeFi, Metaverse, Digital Assets and Web3: Opportunities and Challenges for the Financial Services Industry


The seminar will cover the opportunities and risks that frontier technologies will bring about the financial services industry. With the help of industry experts, the discussion will focus on the frontier technologies and explore the development of the broader digital asset and Web3 ecosystem in Hong Kong. Regulatory considerations will be also covered with reference to the local and international experiences.


The discussion will begin with a reference to the two reports "Decentralised Finance: Current Landscape and Regulatory Developments" (link​) and "The Metaverse: Opportunities and Challenges for the Financial Services Industry" (link​) recently published by the HKIMR.
